It’s been a very busy spring and summer over here at Literacious! I started working on a project not sure where it would end up. But I knew I wanted to expand beyond the blog. As a reader, I’m always popping into bookstores. I like to check out new titles and see what my favorite authors have recently published. In each of these places, I’ve asked the staff if they carry reading journals for kids. And I’ve been very surprised that there aren’t many on the market. And I found it very surprising as there are many different types of reading journals for adults. But, I also realized that this was an opportunity as well.

I’m so excited to announce that beginning on Monday, September 18th I’ll be launching the Literacious Etsy shop filled with downloadables focused on encouraging young readers!

Kid's Reading Journal

Kids’ Reading Journal

With over 100 pages, the Kids’ Reading Journal is a great place to grow your readers at home by allowing them to set reading goals, review the books they’ve read, and read through exciting challenges that stretch their reading skills.

This printable is customizable to your reader at home allowing you to print the pages that work best for your needs! Print a handful of pages to get started and expand as you go or print everything and encourage your reader to create a reading journal that works best for them. You can even print multiple copies of pages if you need more room for reviews or to track more titles.

Customizable for Kids

This specific reading journal is geared toward middle grade readers (ages 8-12ish) as it’s more text and writing based. I also took into account individuality ensuring that there are multiple ways to record the same information. This allows kids to find the pages that work best for them. I’ve already worked with a few beta testers who gave me their very extensive notes. They let me know what they loved and what needed more revision. I happily took their suggestions to heart, making an even better product to share.

What’s Included

As I mentioned, this journal is over 100 pages! With pages for tracking your favorite books, setting reading goals, and 12 different challenges to expand your reader’s world. And you can’t forget the reference tools that teach kids about genres, book awards, and a few reading lists full of suggestions. Plus, your reader will get some really great creative pages with drawing and journal prompts, bookmark designs to customize, and more!

It also makes a great gift for holidays and birthdays! Print out the whole bundle and add it to a three-ring binder for a special gift for the avid reader in your life this holiday season. Add a little pencil case and add some fun pens to the binder and you’ve got the perfect gift!

I hope that you’ll stop by and check out the Etsy shop when it goes live in September. Please let your friends and family know about it. I can’t wait to launch this next chapter of Literacious!
